Kitimat Meet Dec 2025

December 17, 2025

Here's a brief recap of the regional swim meet in Kitimat December 6-7, 2025. (Yes, 6-7. Trust me, I've heard it OVER AND OVER.)

The Rapids came second, about 300 points behind Terrace. They swamped us with numbers, bringing millions of tiny children.

Nine of the 21 swimmers we sent to the meet came home with medals. Blake won the gold aggregate medal for 13-14 girls. Peter won the gold medal for 15 & over boys. Emily M. won the gold aggregate for 10 & under girls. Boy Jayden won the gold medal for 13-14 boys. He also snagged a new ManSask "A" time (the Junior Provincial one) in 400 free, taking 49 seconds off in the process. Emily. T won the gold medal for 11-12 girls. She won all seven of her individual events and swam a new "A" time in the 400 free, like Jayden she took 49 seconds off her time to get there. Elijah won the silver medal in the 11-12 boys. Sophia. M won the bronze medal in the 13-14 girls and swam a new ManSask "AA" time (the ManSask Championship one) in the 200 breaststroke. Chase won the bronze medal in the senior boys age group. Alex only swam on Saturday but still won the bronze medal in the 10 & under boys. He won all five of the events he swam in his one day at the meet.

Lennon crushed with 6 best times, including her first ManSask "A" time of 39.35 in the 50 free. Kosti swam his first 13 year old "A" times in both the 50 free and 100 free, at his very first out of town meet ever. Masters swimmer Lisa Grant jumped in and swam four LIFETIME best times! Among those she swam the ManSask "AA" time with a 1:21.74 100 breast, and broke 30 in the 50 freestyle for the first time ever! ("It only took me an extra 15 years...").

Sophia L, Ethan M and Sophia P all swam best times in all seven of their individual events.

A few other notable swims...

Ben took 12 seconds off his 100 back, Elena took 18 seconds off her 100 IM, Leah and Sumi  took off 5 seconds each in the 50 fly and Cules took 9 seconds off his 200 IM.
