Competitive

Swimmers who have graduated from the beginner level. 

Minimum prerequisite: swim 200m Freestyle, 100m Backstroke, 50m Breaststroke, and 25m Butterfly all with the legal starts, turns, and touches... as long as the attempts are made!  Swimmers are also committing to a minimum 2 sessions per week and progressing into 3 sessions per week.

Swimmers will refine the 4 Swimming strokes along with solidifying each stroke specific rules:

• Freestyle
• Backstroke
• Breaststroke
• Butterfly

Focus for this level is mastering the basics of floatation and body position.  Propulsion with the legs ie "kick" is also a major component of this level of Swimming.  The rules for each of the Strokes in the Sport of Swimming are reinforced and swimmers will work to expand their endurance with an eye towards improving their Swimming for competition.

Participation in Northern Regional competitions is encouraged

Swimmers who have been invited to move to Class 3 have successfully satisfied the skills for advancement into competition.

Swimmers who have the ability to race a 100 IM, 200 fr, 100 bk, 50 br, and a 25 fly will be considered to join this level. These are our next generation of great students and swimmers!  

Swimmers commit to a minimum of 3 water sessions per week but have the option of swimming up to 4 x per week (upon invitation of the Coach).

Competition is an expectation for the swimmers at this level. 
Swimmers are striving to perform on the Regional level and are working towards their first time standards.

Swimmers who have the ability to race a 200 IM and a 400 free and the goal to achieve an A time or better will be invited to join this group.  These are our next generation of great students and swimmers!  

Swimmers commit to a minimum of 4 water sessions per week and are expected to participate in competitions with a view to qualifying for the SwimBC Divisional Championships.

Class 5 requirements include (but are not limited to) the ability to swim a 400 IM + 800 fr as well as a proven ability to race all 16 events on the competitive card.  Think you've got what it takes to join in with these great swimmers?  Let us know!

Performing and participation in competitions is a major focus for swimmers of this level.  Swimmers are striving to perform on the Divisional, Provincial and National levels.

Our Team's most dedicated and skilled athletes working towards performing on the Provincial/National level.   

Minimum weekly commitment = 6 water sessions per week to a maximum of 9 water sessions per week.

Competition is a major focus for swimmers of this level - entirely optional but we'll get you ready to race!  Swimmers are striving to perform (and medal!) at the Divisional, Provincial and National levels.
