Swimmers of the Month - April 2025

May 5, 2025

We’re coming up on the homestretch of the swim season, only a couple months left to go. These are our April Swimmers of the Month.

1 Jessica Marshall - a brand new Rupert Rapid, Jessica joined the club only a few short weeks ago, but she has thrown herself into it with everything she’s got. She shows up to every practice, listens to her coach, focus on the task at hand, and is improving every day. With only mere days under her belt as a Rapid, she attended the TriDuel meet at the beginning of April. Such enthusiasm!

1.5 Kerim Elbissar is a new swimmer this season, coming to us from his previous club in Turkey. He fits in well with the Rapids, even though he doesn’t always understand my jokes. (Ok, to be fair most of the kids don’t appreciate my jokes.) Kerim has the most beautiful butterfly for his age, and a gung ho attitude of ready to try anything. And he’s a big fan of brightly coloured hats.

2 Nevan Gamble joined the club last season, and has made MASSIVE strides since then. He’s mastered the breaststroke (it was a battle), and his backstroke and freestyle sprints are hard charging. Nevan completed 126 lengths in an hour (a little over 3 km) in the swimathon, and went 8 for 8 best times at the PG long course meet.

3 Jayden Pretulac had a fantastic PG meet, getting his first ever A time , and then immediately upping the ante and scoring his first Divisional time!  A huge step forward in his swimming career.

456 Ethan Butt is one of our most senior swimmers, a pretty dedicated guy. As we all know, the faster you get the harder it is to take time off. You have to set clear goals, and then work your butt off (pun intended) to achieve them. You may have noticed above our trophy case in the pool lobby our Club Records. These are the fastest Rupert Rapids of all time, and you have to be pretty swift to break a record; some of ours date back to the 1990’s. At the PG meet last week Ethan broke the club record for the 50 fly! Woohoo!
