Swimmers of the Month -  March 2025

April 9, 2025

March was a short month for the Rapids as two weeks of it were Spring Break, but we still had some stand out swimmers that needed to be recognized.

Class 1 Gabbi Hojas is in his second year with the Rapids, and is a very dedicated swimmer. He is always on deck on time, ready to swim, listens carefully and focuses on learning everything his coaches have to teach him.

1.5 Jed Eby has had an abrupt turnaround in attitude in the last couple months, and it is paying off in the pool. Jed has been improving his skills steadily, and is a reliable lane leader who remembers the set AND can count. Jed attended his  first out of town meet in Smithers the beginning of March, and as he was so successful we expect to see him at more swim meets in the future.

2 Lennon Dopko is one of those all around student athletes who aim to shine in many different areas, so although she is technically a Class 2 she still trains part time with the Class 1.5’s due to scheduling conflicts with her other activities. Lennon had an absolutely brilliant Smithers meet, taking off scads of time.

3 Jack Armstrong an elusive man, that Jack. Much as he was not present to be photographed for winning the gold aggregate in Smithers that pushed him to the forefront this month, he was also absent for photos this week. If you see him, tell him I have his hat.

456 Nadia Marogna swam her first Divisional time at the Smithers meet, qualifying her for Summer Divisionals. Nadia is another well rounded person who makes her busy schedule work by making the most of the first part of every swim practice as she has to slip out early to make it to her next activity. This is in fact probably the single most important life lesson that sport teaches; the self discipline and time management that enables our athletes to excel in more than one area of their lives.
